Well well, yes, it's that time. Today's featured artist is Dino Roc from New York. At the moment Dino Roc is 23 years old but he has been mixing and producing music since 2008. Even though he is able to mix "everything and anything", Dino Roc is associated with mixing electronic music and creating popular mash ups and remixes. His accomplishments vary from having top selling remixes to winning a 5th grade D.A.R.E. essay contest.

Just like we did with all our previous featured artist we have asked Dino Roc a couple questions followed by some if his sounds.

Q & A
Who gave you that initial push?
"DJ CJ (NYC) we started 914 Hit Squad together and we became top selling Crooklyn Clan Artists together"

Where did the name come from?
"My last name starts with 'Dino…' and my 18 year old self thought it would be cool if I added the 'Roc' at the end. And that’s how today I am cursed with the name 'Dino Roc' lol"

Influences?
"As a DJ, definitely DJ AM. He made djing much more creative, fun and inspiring for me. The main reason I switched from cds to Serato and bought my first pair of Technics 1200s just came from watching hours of these DJ AM set routines on YouTube. Still every time I listen to the infamous 'Wonderwall routine', I just can’t help switching on my 1200s and try to imitate it exactly (well almost anyway) lol"

CDJs or vinyl? Why?
"Vinyl for sure! It makes djing soo much more fun and I seem to have a hard time with my scratches on cdjs"

Funniest thing that ever happened at an event?
"After an event I couldn't seem to find my way back to my hotel room, security had to escort me to it... Looking back I guess I had a little too much to drink that night lol"

Out of all the tunes you have, which one never fails?
"Justice, MGMT - We Are Your Kids Friends (Dino Roc & DJ CJ Remix)"

What's your personal favorite song of all time?
"Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek (the original)"

Any sort of rituals you do before of after an event?
"I drink Yoo-Hoo from a shrunken head from the Jivaroan people of Peru before a gig"

In your eyes, how is the music scene and where is it headed?
"To me the music scene is becoming very over saturated and the longevity of songs will become more and more uncommon. Which I guess is a good thing for the djs and not so good for the producers"

Advice for up and coming DJs?
"Learn your craft before you promote yourself. It pays off in the long run"
